The “homebrew antenna challenge” returns!
Calling all MacGyvers! Let’s see how creative and clever we can get when we need to get on the air but don’t have access to a ready-made antenna. Teams will be given $20 and 1 hour to gather material for a UHF/VHF or HF antenna, and an hour to build it. First team to make a contact with a scratch built antenna on any band wins! UHF/VHF and HF capable rigs will be on-hand. Arrange a team ahead of time or come to LARC In The Park solo and we’ll find you a team! There will be an assortment of generic tools and supplies available (pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, duct tape, electrical tape, connectors, coax etc.) but no soldering since we have no power. This is a true “Stuff Hits The Fan” exercise so your improvisation and make-it-work-somehow skills will be put to the test!
LARC In The Park will commence at 9:30 AM on Saturday, July 11 at Bien Park.
Note that no RSVP or pre-registration is needed for our outdoor sessions!
Bien Park is located on Eckles Road, south of Five Mile Road. Map and general LitP info at the club website.
