LARC in the Park – New Ham Day – this Saturday!

ATTENTION NEW HAMS!
You passed your Technician license exam (or maybe even your General or Extra if you’re an overachiever!), paid your fees and received your shiny new callsign. Now what? Dipping your toe in the ocean that is Amateur Radio can be daunting if you don’t have guidance. All of us LARC members know what it’s like to be a “noob” in ham radio so we’d like to invite anyone who is new to the hobby, whether licensed or not, LARC member or not, to “New Ham Day” at LARC In The Park on Saturday August 8, starting 9:30am at Bien Park.

We’ll have all kinds of equipment to show you, from handy-talkies to mobile rigs to HF transceivers and antennas. We’ll demonstrate the different modes we can operate with (voice, digital and CW) and there will be plenty of experienced members around to answer questions about gear as well as operating practices, and, just rag chew about our favorite hobby – AMATEUR RADIO!
Plenty to learn for newbies. Grizzled old experienced hams, come to the Park, share your experience and knowledge!

Bien Park is on Eckles Road, south of 5 Mile.
