The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will retire the Legacy version of its COmmission REgistration System (CORES) on July 15, 2022. CORES is the FCC’s public-facing database that enables and tracks certain types of FCC and FCC applicant actions, including amateur radio applications and licenses. Short version: FCC ULS site with information about our own licenses or that of others, using FRN (FCC Registration Number) is moving to an updated (CORES2) version of its CORES system as of July 15. All future interactions on the new site require one to have created a login User Name (usually in form of valid email address) and, of course, yet another Password, and then “associate” an FRN with that user. The FCC instructions, and process are, not surprisingly, a bit convoluted.
